Kathy: Left it All Behind to Find Peace and a New Life

by Brigid Fitzgerald | The Simple Life Diaries

Introducing Kathy, of Discussing Dissociation, who made a major life decision in 2011,

while in her early 40’s – deciding to move herself and her husband from the USA to Australia following a harrowing situation that was particularly traumatic (you’ll have to listen to find out).
Kathy’s situation could be classified as a midlife crisis caused by a situation that just seemed to stop life from flowing smoothly – if at all.
She has gone from a family life, raising kids and running a business – sleeping 2-3hrs a night to having time to breathe, to see the beauty in the world again and eventually feeling strong enough to re-establish her counselling business again – but this time on different terms…her own.

Her journey has been tumultuous and brave. The choices she has made to leave everything and everyone behind behind – family, beloved dogs and all the things we collect during a lifetime has only allowed her to ‘lighten up’ in many other ways as well.

What Kathy learned:

  • all the ‘things’ she had been collecting were no longer necessary
  • to ‘STOP’ – going from a busy lifestyle raising kids, running a busy counselling business – she was only sleeping 2-3 hrs a night.
  • to cook 🙂
  • to see the beauty in the world again
  • to take time to breathe

Her story is truly inspiring and the steps she went through to get to her happy, empowered and relaxed sense of self will give you the motivation to take your own leap of faith – and ‘just do it’!
